Cancelling a booking and understanding refunds
What happens when you cancel, how timing affects your refund, and where to track the money.
Quick answer
Your refund depends on when you cancel and whether the owner has approved the booking.
Before you cancel
Open the booking and review the refund estimate before confirming. The estimate reflects the booking status and how close the cancellation is to the rental start.
If the owner cancels, declines, or does not respond within 24 hours, the renter receives a full refund and any deposit hold is released.

Go to My bookings and select the reservation you want to cancel.

- 3

Most refunds appear within 5–10 business days.
Security deposits and payment holds
Eligible cancellations release any security deposit authorization. Because the hold was not a completed charge, the release can look different from a refund.
A hold may simply disappear
An authorization hold may disappear from pending activity instead of appearing as a separate refund. Timing depends on your bank.
